A Berry Healthy Smoothie
A berry healthy smoothie is aptly named because it is an all-berry smoothie with banana, almond butter and Greek yogurt for protein and nutrients. It’s also ‘berry healthy.’ An easy breakfast on-the-go, or a post workout recovery snack.

I exercise everyday and maintain a healthy diet. Part of my post-workout routine is a protein packed smoothie. Protein is very important to help muscles recover and repair and keep me energized for the rest of the day. In the Winter, when I can’t get fresh berries I use frozen and for this reason, this is why this smoothie can be made year round.

I’m not a fan of sweetened smoothies. I believe that if you use the sweetest fruit, there’s no reason to add any extra sweetness. Use the ripest banana because they get sweeter as it ripens; this way, the smoothie gets sweetened naturally.
Another favorite ingredient that I must have in my smoothies is my homemade almond butter. I’ve been making it for years and it’s a simple way to add extra protein. It also helps give the smoothie a delicious, nutty taste as well as making it thick which helps fill me up.
Not only are smoothies the perfect post (or pre) workout snack, they are also perfect to take with you. I like to keep the bottles from any store bought juice or smoothie to re-use them for my berry healthy smoothie so I can take it with me when I am running errands or even on a road trip.
I think another reason why smoothies are so popular is because they can be made so quickly. It’s as easy as bringing home the ingredients, throwing everything into to the blender, then blending and drinking.

I’m always looking for a new smoothie combo. I do like Chobani too. Pretty much a win win here. Beautiful photo as well. YUM.
What a gorgeous smoothie! Love the addition of the almond butter too!
A delicious Berry Healthy Smoothie. I make a ‘healthy’ smoothie every day, and love to use fresh seasonal fruits. The berries make a delicious smoothie along with the yogurt.
This is very similar to my recipe, except that I use almond milk instead of coconut water and almond butter. I need to try this. It looks so good.
I love the idea of using the almond milk. Thank you for stopping by Linda Sue 🙂
Hi Janette! What a gorgeous smoothie! I love that you’ve added homemade almond butter – I must give that a go myself!
I subscribe to your philosophy of having smoothies year round. Fruits and yogurt make for a great combination in a smoothie. I like using fresh berries whenever I can, but, the frozen ones are just as good.
I make something similar to this for breakfast, but I never tried adding coconut water and almond butter – this is brilliant and I bet it adds some nice body to the smoothie. Pinned of course 🙂
This looks absolutely delicious, and really protein packed with the almond butter and yogurt. Those are some of my favorites too.
