White Hot Chocolate with Dark Chocolate Whipped Cream
There’s a delicious chocolate-fest going on in this cup of White Hot Chocolate with Dark Chocolate Whipped Cream. A warm and comforting drink this is sure to satisfy all chocolate lovers.

This comforting drink makes me want to wrap up warm, go outside and play in the snow until I’m cold, just so I can come inside and enjoy a warming hot cup of this chocolate. Well, there’s no snow here in Southern California, but a girl can dream.

If you like white chocolate, you will LOVE (yes, that much) LOVE this hot chocolate and it’s really easy to make! I also have some other white chocolate recipes that are just as festive like white chocolate, pistachio & cranberry fudge and white chocolate cranberry & pistachio bark.

To take this white hot chocolate to the next level, I dipped small dessert spoons in melted dark chocolate and allowed to set and when you dip them into the hot chocolate, the dark chocolate melts and creates a dark chocolate swirl. So good!
I just made myself drool thinking about how good this was. I digress. For a little crispy, crunchy confection to enjoy with this drink, try those round, Italian chocolate treats that are in the store this time of the year, that come wrapped in gold foil.
They are filled with hazelnut chocolate and a rice crispy coating. They are a perfect accompaniment and their white chocolate coconut is something I just can’t describe. I told you it was a chocolate-fest.
Want to make this a festive, grown-up drink? Add 1/2 cup of peppermint schnapps to the white hot chocolate (oh yes!).

White Hot Chocolate with Dark Chocolate Whipped Cream
Ingredients
For the chocolate whipped cream:
- 1 cup (236 m)l heavy whipping cream, cold
- ¼ cup (30 grams) powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
- ⅓ cup (46 grams) unsweetened cocoa powder
For the hot chocolate:
- 4 cups 944ml whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 ¾ cups (200 grams) good white chocolate chopped into small chunks
- 1 ounce 28 grams white chocolate
Instructions
Make the chocolate whipped cream:
- To a mixing bowl or stand mixer, add the cream, powdered sugar, espresso powder and cocoa powder.
- Whip using a hand mixer or stand mixer on slow until the powders are mixed, then increase speed and whip until the cream is soft peaks. Don’t over whip or it will be too heavy for the drink. Refrigerate.
Make the hot chocolate:
- Add the milk and vanilla extract to a saucepan and bring to a low simmer, not a boil.
- Add in the chocolate and stir constantly until melted to prevent the chocolate from sitting on the bottom of the pan.
- Pour the hot chocolate into mugs and top with the whipped cream. Grate white chocolate for garnish.
Such an unusual twist but I love it! Gorgeous, gorgeous drink.
