Halloween Blood Orange Martini is a fun and colorful ‘bloody’ drink to serve for Halloween along with a mocktail option for the kids. Complete with an easy spider decoration, this drink is deliciously citrus and just ‘bloody’ good.

Are you ready to drink blood this Halloween? Spiders are getting into everything around here and even making webs right in the drinks! It might be time to exterminate.

Pouring red juice into a martini glass that has a web painted on it and a plastic spider hanging from the rim

This martini recipe uses lemon vodka and triple sec for extra flavor, but can also be made into a mocktail so no one is left without a drink in their hand. Just substitute lemonade for the vodka and triple sec.

Blood orange soda or juice can be used. If you’re lucky enough to find blood oranges, use freshly squeezed.  It is just the perfect shade of red. I guess it’s not called blood orange for nothing.

To make the drink a little more spooky and really get into the mood, I painted a spider web onto the inside of the glass using black gel frosting that can found in any grocery store in the baking section.

I recommend freezing the glasses after adding the web and before pouring in the liquid. This helps set the spider web to prevent it from getting ‘washed away’ and also keeps the drink chilled.

The spiders are just plastic props that can be found all over this time of year. I glued black sewing thread to him, then glued the other end of the thread to the rim of the glass. That’s all there is to getting in the Halloween drink spirit.

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes

  • Black gel frosting
  • 4 ounces (118 ml) lemon flavored vodka (substitute lemonade for mocktail)
  • 1/2 ounce (36 ml) triple sec (leave out for mocktail)
  • 4 ounces (118 ml) blood orange juice or soda
  • Black sewing thread
  • Edible glue
  • Plastic spider

  1. Draw a spider web on the inside of 2 martini glasses with the black gel frosting and freeze for 30 minutes.
  2. Fill a martini shaker with ice. Add the vodka, triple sec and blood orange juice. Shake for 10 seconds. Strain into the martini glasses.
  3. To create the hanging spider (do this before adding the liquid, after freezing). Use edible glue to glue black sewing thread to the spider. Glue the other end to edge of the glass, close to the web.
