This Everyday Herb Sauce takes just 5 minutes to make using mixed fresh herbs that you can use for so many dishes. I love to use this all grilling season as a marinade and a serving sauce to pour over chicken, fish and vegetables. You can even use as a salad dressing.

Dipping a grilled shrimp into a bowl of herb sauce

Herb-y, a little vinegar-y with a little sweetness and very fresh tasting. Using fresh basil, cilantro/coriander, rosemary and chives, sweetened with a little honey, this sauce is gluten-free and dairy free that fit in with many dietary requirements.

This type of sauce is my go-to for a healthy, fresh tasting sauce. I use a similar one for Grilled Herb and Lime Chicken and also with Simple Roasted Vegetables with Herb Sauce.

What herbs are best for herb sauce?

Any of your favorites. I like the combination of basil, cilantro and rosemary. But any combination of these or substitutes are delicious using thyme, dill, parsley, tarragon, oregano and even fresh mint.

As you can see in the picture below, I drizzle it over grilled shrimp, chicken and vegetables.

Customizing ideas: Make this everyday herb sauce chunky by not blending it as smooth so it is more like a chimichurri. Sometimes I add additional ingredients to make it spicy by adding red pepper flakes. I also love to add a couple of cloves of garlic. You can also make it creamy by adding a ripe avocado or tahini. Add capers for a saltier bite. And finally, a Mexican flare by adding tomatillos and jalapeño for a salsa verde.
