Prosciutto Wrapped Apple Bites
If you’re looking for the easiest appetizer for apple season, these Prosciutto Wrapped Apple Bites are what you need. Sweet apples wrapped in Parmesan cheese, prosciutto and basil then brush them with honey.
Anything made with prosciutto is perfect in my eyes. You can crisp it up and added to Grilled Pear and Crispy Prosciutto Salad or top Bruschetta. I also love it on Grilled Flatbread or Grilled Cheese, both with sweet figs.
I like to brush the tops of these apple bites with honey then put them under the broiler (or grill in the U.K.) to lightly crisp the prosciutto and soften the cheese. They are best served at room temperature.
Apple season was my inspiration for this recipe and you can use any of your favorite sweet apple. The delicate sweet and salty flavor of the prosciutto with the apple along with the slightly warmed Parmesan cheese and basil flavor is truly delicious.
We are coming also into the holiday/Christmas season. Are they not the easiest fall/autumn appetizer that you can just assemble in minutes?
To serve: The reason I like to broil them is because it slightly crisps the prosciutto and adds a little sweetness. It also softens the Parmesan cheese which intensifies the flavor.

What wine would you serve with this appetizer ?
I like to serve this Italian/Mediterranean style. Keep it simple with items you can just buy and serve, like Spanish and kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, some Italian cheeses, marinated artichokes just to name a few. For drinks, Italian red and white wines. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions.
Has anyone tried this cold? We are going on a wine tour with a group and this looks perfect and easy to travel with. Would it work chilled?
They would be perfect cold and would travel very well. Just skip the broiling part. Enjoy your wine tour, sounds lovely.
This appetizer sounds really good and delicious I am going to try it but I’m going to switch out the parmesan and maybe add Bree or blue cheese to it to add that funky flavor to it
That sounds delicious Brandon, let me know how you like it.
All you had to say was ‘prosciutto’ and you got my attention! I’ve often enjoyed the savory and sweet combination of prosciutto and cantaloupe, but I haven’t tried it with apple! I actually just had a wonderfully juicy honeycrisp – looks like I need to go out and get some prosciutto (don’t twist my arm or anything) ๐
Such a creative appetizer! Love it! Pinned ๐
