For this green chile cheeseburger, green chiles are transformed into a delicious relish and along with pepper jack cheese they are the perfect match for a burger topping.
8ounces(226 grams) canned diced mild green fire roasted chiles, drained
1tablespoonred onionfinely chopped
1tablespooncilantrochopped
1teaspoonagave
8slicespepper jack cheese
4lettuce leaves
Instructions
Form the beef into 4 patties, season both sides with salt and pepper. Set aside.
Add the green chiles, red onion, cilantro, agave, ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon black pepper to a bowl and mix well. Set aside.
Preheat cast iron over medium-high heat for 5 minutes. Add the burgers and cook for 4 minutes each side for medium rare, or 6 minutes per side for medium well.
Turn the burgers, cook for 3 -5 minutes (depending on your desired meat temperature) then add 2 cheese slices to each burger. Cover with a lid or foil and cook until cheese is melted for 1 more minute.
Serve on buns with lettuce and top with the green chile relish.
