British Christmas Pudding with Brandy Sauce

A sweet, cake-like steamed pudding made with dried fruit, candied fruit, brandy, spices and more.

Traditionally served with brandy cream sauce

Step 1

Soak. Dried, candied and fresh fruit are soaked in brandy.

Step 2

Wet ingredients.  Butter, brown sugar and eggs are whisked together.

Mix. The marinated fruit is added to the wet ingredients.

Step 4

Dry ingredients.  Flour and spices are added to the wet ingredients.

Step 5

Bowl.  A circle of parchment paper is added to the bottom of a pudding basin/bowl.

Step 6

Fill.  The mix is added to the bowl.

Step 7

Cover. The bowl is covered tightly with parchment paper and foil and tied with string.

Step 8

Steam. Add the bowl to a water bath and steam for 7 hours.
